Still the face of the American left.

December 18, 2017

It seems that many people under the age of fifty didn’t get Darrell Issa’s reference to Hanoi Jane. This is for them.

The late 1960’s and early 1970’s spawned a great many of the now septuagenarian liberals still guiding the modern-day left.

One of those was actress Jane Fonda, who, with a similarly anti-American group is now working to unseat Representative Darrel Issa (R-CA), according to an article in the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Hanoi Jane was one of many anti-war protestors, but she was less about being against the war than she was about being for socialism, if not actual communism.

There was no Honor Flight in those days.

If your granddad was spat upon when he returned to the States during and after the Viet Nam war, you can thank the likes of Hanoi Jane.

She earned the nickname by which she is still known today by posing on a Communist anti-aircraft gun while visiting North Viet Nam in 1972,  where she trashed the United States, saluted the downing of American B-52’s in speeches at Berkeley and generally embraced the communist party’s “fight for the people”.

Ironically, she also turned a lot of anti-war protestors into pro-American patriots. It’s one thing to protest a war that, like the early sham war against ISIS, seemed to be going nowhere but it’s quite another to give aid and comfort to the enemy.

In another day and time we used to call that traitorous, but that was back when both sides were allowed to have a voice.
